What is a main difference between VGA and Super VGA graphics?

VGA offers 2 graphics modes – 640 x 480 and 320 x 200 – while SGVA offers those plus 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768.

VGA is upward compatible while SVGA is not compatible downward.

Only SVGA offers enough resolution to support a graphics-oriented interface.
